Wow- busy times for me in September! There are a lot of things going on in my life, and I am sure that the same is true for you. One of the special, grace-filled events of the upcoming weeks is the Ordination of our new ordinary, Bishop-Elect Lawrence Persico. He will be ordained at St. Peter Cathedral in Erie on October 1 at 2:30 PM. While the ordination is by ticket only, there is a Vespers service at the Cathedral at 7:30 PM on Sunday, the 30th. All of the public is encouraged to attend that event, and I hope that you will consider joining us for that. The ordination will be aired live on WJET 24 Erie, and at some point during October on EWTN by tape delay.
The Bishop Elect comes to us from Greensburg, PA, which for those of you who aren’t natives of Western PA, is a small city just east of Suburban Pittsburgh. The Bishop-Elect has given of himself admirably in service to the Church. He spent many years in the Chancery Office of his Diocese in direct service to his Bishops. We are excited, after waiting for these past few years, to finally meet our new Bishop! Please consider joining in that weekend’s celebrations in some way. Maybe the most effective thing that we can do is to pray for this man as he prepares to lift a heavy burden in service to Christ and Church.

I am the Master of Ceremonies at a Religious Freedom Rally in Perry Square in Erie, on Saturday, September 29th, from 10-11:30 AM. It is a time to get together with Christians from many different faith traditions to celebrate, promote, and protect our faith and our religious liberties. If you wish to have more information, please leave a comment on the blog.
